What AOV kit is suitable for the job?

We have assembled a range of AOV kits for most common applications, such as stairwell ventilation and lobby protection. The suitability of each system will depend on the requirements of the specific job.

AOV Kit A – Stairwell AOV Louvred Window and Controls

AOV Kit A includes the following equipment:

• 1 x 1.0m² geometric free area Louvre Window
• 1 x EV-301-MC-BB – EV-301 Smoke Ventilation AOV Control Panel with Battery Back-up
• 1 x EV-HE077 – Firemans Override Switch

What AOV Kit A does
Provides smoke clearance to stairwells by automatically opening upon actuation of the control panel.

When AOV Kit A is suitable
Where an automatically opening vent is required to provide minimum free area of 1.0m2 as specified in Approved Document B of the Building Regulations.

AOV Kit A System specification
This smoke control kit will automate a suitable opening light or window, to meet the requirements of ADB of the Building Regulations. It features a louvred window, a control panel with battery back-up and two manual switches for location at highest and lowest storeys within the stairwell.

AOV Kit B – Stairwell Kit with 1.0m2 Louvred Vent

AOV Kit B includes the following equipment:

• 1 x 1.0m² Louvre Vent (Vent Throat Dimensions: L:1104mm x W:1200mm)
• 1 x EV-301-MC-BB – EV-301 Smoke Ventilation AOV Control Panel with Battery Back-up
• 1 x EV-HE077 – Firemans Override Switch

What AOV Kit B does
Provides smoke clearance to stairwells by automatically opening a louvred ventilator on the stairwell roof.

When AOV Kit B is suitable
In a location where ventilation is to be achieved through the roof and where the system may be used for summer ventilation and/or where insulation is required to the vent.

AOV Kit B System specification
This smoke control kit meets the requirements of ADB of the Building Regulations. It features an automatic opening insulated aluminium roof louvre, a control panel with battery back-up, and two manual switches for location at highest and lowest storeys within the stairwell.

AOV Kit C – Stairwell Kit with 1.0m2 Hatch Vent

AOV Kit C includes the following equipment:

• 1 x 1.0m² Hatch Vent with Polycarbonate Lid or Sandwich Panel
• 1 x EV-301-MC-BB – EV-301 Smoke Ventilation AOV Control Panel with Battery Back-up
• 1 x EV-HE077 – Firemans Override Switch

What AOV Kit C does
Provides smoke clearance to stairwells by automatically opening a roof hatch on the stairwell roof.

When AOV Kit C is suitable
In a location where ventilation is to be achieved through the roof and daylighting through the vent is desirable.

AOV Kit C System specification
This smoke control kit meets the requirements of ADB of the Building Regulations. It features an automatic opening roof hatch, a control panel with battery back-up and two manual switches for location at highest and lowest storeys within the stairwell.

AOV Kit D – Stairwell Kit with 1.5m2 Louvred Window

AOV Kit D includes the following equipment:

• 1 x Louvre Window: 1 x 1.5m² geometric free area
• 1 x EV-301-MC-BB – EV-301 Smoke Ventilation AOV Control Panel with Battery Back-up
• 1 x EV-HE077-GRY – Maintenance Switch
• 1 x EV-SD – Photoelectric Smoke Detector

What AOV Kit D does
Provides smoke clearance to a protected corridor or lobby by automatically opening upon actuation of the control panel.

When AOV Kit D is suitable
Where an automatically opening vent is required to provide a minimum free area of 1.5m2 as specified in Approved Document B of the Building Regulations.

AOV Kit D System specification
This smoke control kit will provide a window to meet the requirements of ADB of the Building Regulations. It features a louvred window, a control panel with battery back-up and two manual override switches.

AOV Kit E – Lobby Vent Damper into Shaft

AOV Kit E includes the following equipment:

• 1 x Damper: 1.0m² c/w 24v actuator (Damper Dimensions: H:1490mm x W:990mm x D:350mm, Builder’s work Opening: H:1500mm X W:1000mm)
• 1 x EV-301-MC-BB – EV-301 Smoke Ventilation AOV Control Panel with Battery Back-up
• 1 x EV-HE077-GRY – Maintenance Switch
• 1 x EV-SD – Photoelectric Smoke Detector

What AOV Kit E does
Provides smoke ventilation into a shaft by automatically opening a CE-marked Smoke Shaft AOV into the shaft.

When AOV Kit E is suitable
Where a natural or mechanical smoke shaft system is employed and a tested smoke shaft vent is required.

AOV Kit E System specification
This smoke control kit for smoke shafts features a Smoke Shaft AOV, a control panel with battery back-up, a manual override switch and a smoke detector.

AOV Kit F – Stairwell Kit with 1.5m2 Louvred Vent

AOV Kit F includes the following equipment:

• 1 x 1.5m² Louvered Vent, opal polycarbonate blades
• 1 x EV-301-MC-BB – EV-301 Smoke Ventilation AOV Control Panel with Battery Back-up

What AOV Kit F does
Provides smoke evacuation from a smoke shaft by automatically opening a roof louvre on the roof at the head of the shaft.

When AOV Kit F is suitable
At the top of natural smoke shafts where the shaft may be used for day-to-day ventilation.

AOV Kit F System specification
This smoke control kit will ventilate smoke from the top of natural smoke shafts and features an insulated aluminium automatic opening roof louvre with a control panel.

AOV Kit G – Head of Shaft Kit with 1.5m2 Shaft Vent

AOV Kit G includes the following equipment:

• 1 x 1.5m² Hatch Vent, (vent throat dimensions: H:1600mm x W:1100mm – Hinge Side)
• 1 x EV-301-MC-BB – EV-301 Smoke Ventilation AOV Control Panel with Battery Back-up

What AOV Kit G does
Provides smoke evacuation from a smoke shaft by automatically opening a roof hatch on the roof at the head of the shaft.

When AOV Kit G is suitable
At the top of natural smoke shafts.

This smoke control kit will ventilate smoke from the top of natural smoke shafts and features an automatic opening roof hatch with a control panel.

AOV Kit H includes the following equipment:

• 1 x EV-301-MC-BB – EV-301 Smoke Ventilation AOV Control Panel with Battery Back-up
• 1 x EV-HE077 – Firemans Override Switch

What AOV Kit H does
Ideal for a smoke control project designed for single stairwells offering 1.0m2 free area.

When AOV Kit H is suitable
Suitable for natural, day-to-day ventilation and smoke ventilation. With the window’s slim profile, the system is ideally suited for use in facades.

AOV Kit H System specification
This smoke control kit meets the requirements of ADB of the Building Regulations. It features a Casement Window, a control panel with battery back-up, two manual switches for location at the highest and lowest storeys within the stairwell, and a smoke detector.

AOV Kit I – Lobby Casement & Controls

AOV Kit I includes the following equipment:

What AOV Kit I does
Ideal for a smoke control project that incorporates a BRE type smoke shaft with a corridor/lobby window offering 1,5m2 free area.

When AOV Kit I is suitable
Smoke control projects that incorporate a BRE-type smoke shaft with a corridor/lobby window.

This smoke control kit meets the requirements of ADB of the Building Regulations. It features a Casement Window, a control panel with battery back-up, a manual switch for location at the highest and lowest storeys within the stairwell, and a smoke detector.
