Approved Document B (ADB) is the legislative document that governs fire safety within and around buildings. This document must be followed under UK law. In addition, BS 9991: 2015 Fire safety in the design, management, and use of residential buildings is the British code of best practice for fire safety in residential buildings.
Requirement B1 of the ADB specifically addresses fire safety precautions that must be adhered to, to ensure the safety of occupants, firefighters, and those close to the building in the event of a fire.
